About Louie Hehman
Born in Kentucky and now based in Louisville, Louie Hehman has built an impressive career as both a performer and educator. After earning his degree from Bellarmine University in 2014, he continued his studies at Butler University and later completed his DMA at the University of South Carolina in 2022. Along the way, he discovered a passion for teaching, presenting at national conferences such as NCKP and MTNA, and earning back-to-back Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Awards.
Since 2020, Louie has taught at Bellarmine University, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Piano and Theory and directs the Preparatory Program. His career highlights include international festivals, a gold medal in the 2021 Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition, and teaching at the prestigious Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.
Beyond academia, Louie thrives across genres. He has performed with projects ranging from the alt-rock/jazz fusion trio Cheating Paisly to the hot jazz group Jane’s Jazz Addiction and alt-country outfit Nicholas Johnson and the Unrefined. In spring 2024, he released his debut solo piano EP, Daydreams.
Louie’s music is as versatile as it is captivating—blending classical precision, jazz improvisation, and expressive creativity into performances that leave lasting impressions.
